The concept of truth and its moral implications played vital role in the survival and success of Homo sapiens. Our ability to perceive the world closest to objective base is requisite for mastery of the self and world. It is only through the lens of truth, that we attempt to pierce the membrane of subjectivity. Truth holds the key to true absolution and the spirit of betterment. It is through or own individual and collective truths that we form a more better union of self and tribe. Always seek the higher ground where truth is found, as better humans before us most certainly have.
Truth Is True Sight
Trust & Cooperation – Truth enhances trust within communities. Honesty fosters levels of cooperation, essential for survival in complex social groups, hunting, gathering, building, and defending from threat.
Knowledge Sharing – Fidelity in communication is essential for transmitting accurate knowledge, improving survival craft, medicinal practice, environmental knowledge, and in-group cohesion. Accurate information sharing is also crucial for innovation. Societies emphasizing truthfulness are better at building upon existing knowledge; leading to advancements in tools, agriculture, and social structure.
Decision Making – Sharing truths of learned environmental dangers, such as predators, poisonous plants, or hostile tribes, is vital for survival of the self and group. Misinformation can lead to fatal consequence.
Leadership & Social Order – Leaders who are perceived as truthful and trustworthy gain confidence from their communities. Trust in leadership is especially critical during times of crisis, migrating, war craft, or confronting natural disaster. Truth is bedrock in maintaining social contract and law; communities valuing truth exhibit stronger social norms and less internal conflict.
Conflict – Truth telling resolves disputes and prevent misunderstandings. Conflict resolution processes involve seeking shared objective truth through courts, councils, or mediation.
Group Identity & Purpose – Truthful accounts of group origins, struggles, and victories solidify shared identity and purpose. The search for truth is linked base to religious and philosophical beliefs; fostering strength and resilience.
Train To Seek Truth
What are your truths? Is it possible there are filters on these truths? Do you have the capacity to be deceived by yourself or others? This dichotomy of rhetorical statements demonstrate a universal susceptibility in degraded fidelity of personal objectivity. Truthful self auditing is a practice to higher potentialities; embracing vulnerabilities of truth sets us free. Be honest. Discern distance in who we project and aspire to be. Truth is a strong tool for collapsing self and societal constructed rifts.
