Primal Primer 3 (Nutrition)

Water is unequivocally important and undoubtable life line that guided migration, hunting, exploration, and civilization planning. To this day, considerations of water are non negotiable and often the most common packed item for any expedition when venturing past the pale of shelter. H20 is necessary each and every day (for optimal performance), and must be consumed under somewhat pristine circumstance: pH and solutes falling between tight intervals (minerals), while being devoid of pernicious algae or microorganisms.

Water contamination quickly became a clear and ever-present danger in early sapien’s life. The ability to decipher and source clean non-contaminated hydration became common core skills needed for navigating survival and thrivings at any point in our history. Although source and convenience of water acquisition has changed greatly over centuries (trading stream for municipal pipe) the need for organic water has not; with the contamination being more subtle than ever before. Today’s contaminants will not make you sick in close proximity to consumption, but continuous low dose exposures to modern chemical and plastic WILL eventually.

Organic Water

Organic water is defined as being the most pristine and unadulterated water that can be sourced. Seemingly adding complexity to what many would consider base element, there are many modern external factors that affect the most abundant source of nutrition we consume daily.

  • Triple Osmosis Filter Systems – The only filter system that will effectively remove fluoride, chlorine, anti-corrosives, viruses, organic life, and pharmaceuticals. Many also come equipped with a multi-gallon reserve which is practical in emergency situations.
  • Natural Sources – No matter how safe mountain streams or lakes may seem, always filter first with portable systems. Because these sources are without the additives from municipal agencies, a lower level filter can be used (to remove natural microbial contaminant). I.E. Ceramic & activated charcoal filters.

Contaminated Water

Contaminated water varies in perniciousness; common contaminants found in our modern world of hunting & gathering provides low dose but additive damages over time.

  • Municipal Water Supply – Do the research and visit your municipal water companies website for a list of “addititves”. Often you will find fluoride for oral health (a known neurotoxin), Chlorine for disinfection (confirmed to be carcinogenic when combined with certain organic matter such as THMs), and anti-corrosives for the health of pipes and infrastructure, not the health of the sapien.
  • Bottled Water – Water in plastic bottles has an expiration date for a reason. As these bottles age (highly influenced by sun exposure and heat), chemicals of the bottles break down and leech petroleum constituents and microplastics into your body.

~Cave Implementation~

Hydrate with earth touched water early, often, and before thirst. 3.7 liters or 13 cups per day for men & 2.7 liters or 9 cups per day for women. Invest in a triple osmosis filtration system for your house. Never buy plastic bottled water or use plastic canteens for transport (BPA free has transitioned to other types that may in time be confirmed detrimental also). Metal ready to drink options are lesser of the plastic evils, but often come equipped with a plastic based liner.

If primarily using a triple osmosis system, it is encouraged to supplement with minerals, as this system will remove what is also perceives as “impurities”. Minerals are critical for optimum hydration: supporting fluid balance, muscle function, and cellular processes. It’s necessary to supplement your organic water with common minerals sources easily sourced from a number of hydration powders. Seek mineral replacements that are high in sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

If you eat organic, so too should you drink organic.
