Primal Primer 11 (Mentality)

Our human ancestors found purpose through a combination of survival instincts, social connections, and a deep relationship with their environment. Their sense of purpose was tied to activities essential for their survival and well being of the immediate tribe.

Securing Basic Needs – The primary purpose of early humans was securing food, water, and shelter; the pursuit of these base drivers provided immediate purpose and sense of achievement.

Building & Maintaining – Living in tight knit communities made social bonds crucial for survival. These connections were vital to giving individuals a sense of belonging and purpose in contributing to the well being of the collective.

Passing Of Knowledge – Teaching younger generations skills necessary for survival such as hunting technique, foraging knowledge, and tool making is key purpose of elder community members.

Cultural & Spiritual Practice – Developing rituals, art, and spiritual beliefs as a way to make sense of the world, gives purpose beyond mere survival while making sense of unknown chaos.

Exploring & Adapting – The challenge of exploring new territories and innovating to survive in different climates provides purpose and accomplishment; as new horizons bring the prospect of untapped resources.

Protecting The Group – Defending against predators or rival groups contains significant purpose drive. Leaders or skilled fighters in a group find purpose in protectorate roles, ensuring safety and continuity of community.

Accomplishments are preceded by purpose; and purpose must be known, felt, conceptualized, and lived to make real. Seek the clearest direction available in service to this purpose, while understanding directional azimuth will undoubtably be re-cast multiple times upon new vistas.

~Cave Implementation~

Ask yourself the hard question of what is your purpose; reflect often and accept, amplify, and embrace how it evolves. And if you are unsure of direction in this very important question, refer back to the basics of where our ancestors found purpose. The baser instincts of resource acquisition, community, family, mentorship, protection, exploration, art, ritual, and religion are all great starting places for inspiring your own chosen or perhaps given divine purpose.
