Primal Primer 13 (Nutrition)

Food fabrication has removed nutrition from its natural and pristine source. Our ancestors did not require food labels or badges on packaging to know if something was for human consumption or not. Meat hunted, berries picked, and tubers dug up were exactly as they appeared: nourishing natural fuel.

Far departed from these times, we are accosted with unsurmountable options when modern hunting and gathering in grocery or online platforms. New jungles and savannah’s contain highly fabricated and designer food options; tugging at ancient instincts of taste satiation, while creating patterns of addiction. Reliable side effects of mass produced packaged foods include massive disruptions of human endocrine and immune systems: affecting insulin, cortisol, estrogen, testosterone, epinephrin and more.

Examine Food Labels

Before purchasing edible goods, read & assess back labels. Just as one wouldn’t purchase a book prior to reading the back synopsis, so too should be approach when choosing food. When developing goal specific intentions, the ability to efficiently “Pre-Approve” back of package nutrition facts and ingredients will become second to nature. Naturally catalogue your non-negotiable, not consumable foods and ingredients. A selection habit hardwired as body composition improvement, performance, and overall increased subjective well being reinforces outcomes of careful negotiation.

~Cave Implementation~

Habituate reading labels of what goes into body. Start with ingredients and end with nutrition. If ingredients appear from periodic table, opt out and forage alternatives. Seek pedigrees of certified organic, non-GMO, gluten free, and grass fed. You really are what you eat; your fuel, muscle, cells, and thoughts are highly influenced by choices of consumption; guard what you are made of as your life depends on it…because it does.
