Early Homo sapien environments contained relatively low amounts of chronic and distracting stimuli; offering several survival benefits through enhancing focus of external and internal environments, while also increasing rest and recovery.
Improved Focus & Attention – With fewer distractions, early hominids could maintain heightened focus on essential tasks like hunting, foraging, and detecting threats. Detecting subtle environmental cues (footprints, disturbed foliage and smell or movement), were critical details for survival.
Enhanced Rest & Recovery – Without constant stimuli experienced in modern life, early humans cultivated instances of increased sleep quality and recovery time. Sleep being a powerful essential nutrient for physical recovery, memory consolidation, and mental regulation.
Natural World Alignment – Living in environments with few man made stimuli allowed ancient ancestors to become highly attuned in natural rhythms of earth and creature. Seasonal adaptations are noticed and prepared for by observing incremental changes of weather, animal migratory patterns, and flora life cycles.
Increased Cognitive & Emotional Regulation – With fewer distractions, early humans engaged introspectively in reflective thinking; enhancing problem solving and creativity. Attributes of calmness that inspired tool making, strategic planning (hunting, gathering, migration, LUP), and emotional regulation (maintaining hormonal balance for better decision making for inherently irrational situations).
Eliminate That Which Does Not Serve You
Our lives have exited baseline regulation, now overstimulated, burnt out, and not conducive to deep relationships with family, friends, community, or goal. Investigate and commit to time bound stimuli fasting in efforts of cleaning receptors and resetting. Stimulation fasting serves to reinvigorate while providing insights into unhealthy relationship addictions. The self experiment of adjusting independent variables (distraction & entertainment) and affected dependent variable (progress), is a most powerful interdiction for changing a life’s course.
~Cave Implementation~
Make a list of everyday distraction and entertainment potentially consumed in excess; the usual suspects are clear and present dopamine addictions presenting as screen time, social media, working, TV, and maladaptive relationships. The ability to stare out to vistas, across vast bodies of water, or into Milky Way spirals arms of celestial galaxy were once common and everyday practice. In those instances of reverence and contemplation, we not only appreciate beauty, but harmonize with awe; matching frequency and becoming one with source. Amazing potentialities arise when we delaminate from modern influence.
