The relatively lower amounts of constant stimuli in the environment of early Homo sapiens offered several survival benefits by enhancing abilities to focus, be aware of surroundings, and hone important skills for survival.
Improved Focus & Attention – With fewer distractions, early hominids could maintain heightened focus on essential tasks like hunting, foraging, and detecting threats. Detecting slight disturbances in the environment (footprints, disturbed foliage and subtle changes in smell or movement), are critical to survival.
Enhanced Rest & Recovery – Without the constant stimuli of modern life, early humans embrace better sleep quality and recovery time. Sleep is an essential nutrient: essential for physical recovery, memory consolidation, mental health and stress regulation.
Deepening Awareness Of The Natural World – Living in environments with fewer stimuli allows Homo sapiens to become highly attuned to the natural rhythms of the earth. Seasonal adaptations are noticed and prepared for by observing the subtle changes of weather, animal migration patterns, and plant life cycles of our environments.
Better Cognitive & Emotional Regulation – With fewer distractions, early humans have increased opportunity to engage in reflective thinking, enhancing problem solving, and creativity. These attributes lead to enhanced tool making, strategic planning (hunting, gathering, migration & LUP), and emotional regulation in maintaining emotional balance for better decision making in irrational situations.
Eliminate That Which Does Not Serve You
There are aspects of our lives that are out of regulation, overstimulating, and likely not value adding to goals, family, friends, or community. Investigate these culprits and commit to time bound temporary fasting in efforts of cleaning the receptors. Entertainment fasting also serves to reinvigorate while providing insights into relationships with stimuli. The self experiment of adjusting the independent variable (entertainment) and the dependent variable of progression, is powerful interdiction for changing the life course for generations.
~Cave Implementation~
Make a list of everyday entertainment consumed in excess; the usual suspects are clear and present dopamine addictions. This stimuli presents itself as screen time, social media, working, TV, and sports consumption. The ability to stare into vistas, across vast bodies of water, or into the arms of Milky Way spirals of our galaxy were once common and everyday practice. In these times of reverence and contemplation, we not only appreciate beauty, but shift into another state of being harmonizing with this frequency and becoming one with source. Amazing potentialities arise when we delaminate from modern influence.
