Red Light Therapy

Depending on lifestyle or where you live this style, receiving adequate amounts of daily sunlight can be challenging. What Is Red Light Spectrum?

Red light is a spectrum of visible light that exhibits long wave lengths (600-700nm) & and lower energy (compared to blue or violet light). Penetrating to superficially to 4nm, red light is purported to boost skin health, healing, and collagen production Often also combined in red light therapy devices is near infrared light (NIR): electromagnetic radiation that isn’t visible to the eye, but longer in wavelength (700-1400nm). Subsequently, NIR is felt as heat, and benefit comes from its ability to penetrate deep into tissue (100nm) where it can enhance muscle recovery, reduce pain, and inflammation.

Protocols:

Basic Health: 6″ away, 20 min exposure, 4 days per week

Eye Health: (use red light only not NIR). Gaze into light at 12″ of distance, 3 min exposure. Close eyes for rest for at least 3 min following this protocol.

Why red light therapy opposed to sunlight?

Protein powder is defined as supplement and not substitute for whole food protein. Similarly, red light is a supplement to sunlight: a tool that can be leveraged when sun exposure cannot be met, or more specific and targeted healing protocols are needed. Although sunlight is unequivocally the best source, there are downsides as UV light can damage (red light does not contain this potentially damaging wavelength).
