Make The World Your Gym

by | Nov 13, 2023 | Post

The comforts of modern fluorescent lit gyms, plush matted floors all in climate controlled walls contradict the work we seek during ritualized physical struggle sessions. Set and setting is important: environments hold immense power to catalyze any activity. We adorn outdoor gardens with fountains and canopy, offices equipped with motivational portraits and bright lighting, churches bestowed of old wood and low light natural candle; environments are curated to focus and augment activity. The setting shifts our brain-ware into congruency: gardens for relaxation, offices for productive work, and churches for spiritual connection. When engaged in conditioning fitness, environment should also catalyze fitting intent.

Under blue sky and sun, cloud or rain, allow your body to harmonize with season. Equip minimum shoe and clothing while seeking free range organic gym. Our environment provides all that is needed to challenge body and mind. Wood to squat, rock to carry, tree branches to hang from and a myriad of challenges you can structure with degrees of ingenuity and motivation to suffer. Similar to the nutrition content of whole foods, this category of exercises are inherently compound in “nutrition”: providing maximum holistic nervous, bioenergetic, and muscular systemic adaptations.

The break of routine, excitement of forage driven exploration, and compound challenges under naked atmosphere sparks alive ancient pathways of thriving while igniting adaptation. Lifting Rock & Wood Under Sky recreates conditions of daily challenges that greeted generations before us.

Conventional gyms are exemplary in providing many convenient results: efficiency of time along with flexible and measurable consistency of effort. Despite these attributes, I challenge Cave Cohorts to explore new outdoor modalities. When on your next run or hike, seek out novel obstacles nature provides. Get your hands dirty. Take off shoes and allow your feet to touch earth. Find yourself sweating in unique places with earth in hand.

In future videos we will be disclosing existing Left Coast outdoor gym destinations and terraforming new environments to scale this movement.
