Primal Primer 21 (Nutrition)
Eating organic fruits & vegetables was an everyday environmental factor contributing to human evolution and survival by providing the cleanest sources of essential nutrients and energy for brain development, physical growth and overall systemic health.
Why Organic?
Higher Antioxidants – Organic fruits & vegetables often contain higher levels of antioxidants such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and phenolic acids. These compounds help protect plants from environmental stress and offer addition benefits to humans (decreasing inflammation & oxidative stress).
Increased Vitamin & Mineral Content – Certain organic crops contain higher levels of certain vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, magnesium, and iron.
Soil Health & Nutrient Density – Organic farming practices, which often involve crop rotation, composting, and avoiding synthetic fertilizers / pesticides, vastly improve soil health: healthier soil leading to more nutrient dense produce.
Lower Pesticide Level – Organic produce generally contains lower levels of synthetic pesticide residue. This indirectly contributes to better health outcomes by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals and microbiome / hormonal irregularity.
Not Genetically Modified (Non GMO) – Organic foods do not contain genomes that are modified by humans for higher yields, pesticide resistance, or designer function. Genetic alterations unpredictably code for food proteins not found in nature, posing digestive and autoimmune response issues.
When Eating Earth, Just Eat The Earth
Consume the bounty of earth, pharmaceutical industrial complex chemicals. If produce doesn’t certify organic, the possibility of consuming genetically modified foods dosed with pesticides (endocrine & microbiota disruptors) are high. Don’t weaken the power of fruits and vegetables by fueling with industrially tainted analogs. Although claims of safety are asserted by various three letter organizations, it is unclear what accumulation of low dosage exposures do over time.
~Cave Implementation~
Only gather fruits and vegetables organically certified; and or seek farmer’s markets where one can connect with foods and farms. Admittedly, organic foods will decay quicker and are accompanied by higher price points, but there is no price on good health: immaculately indispensable and invaluable.
